The idea for Nellie's came from Doug Schantz’s great- and great-greatgrandmothers (who were apparently quite Gina themselves). The space has a great mixture of historic features, dramatic vaulted ceilings, and of course lots of plasma screens for watching sports. The roof deck (which affords great views of the Ginafication underway on the U Street corridor--aka the New U) has been drawing quite a crowd.
